Eat Tiger Nuts

If you are like me, when someone told me to eat tiger nuts, that warranted a further explanation… excuse me!  Check out why to incorporate two great superfoods this week; tiger nuts and chia seeds.

THINGS TO PRACTICE:

1. Tiger Nuts. Ok so these little beauties are not found on a tiger… and are not actually nuts either. Tiger nuts are actually tubers (similar to a sweet potatoe).  These tubers are high in fiber, magnesium, and potassium.  They can be juiced into a tiger nut milk, or more commonly dehydrated and consumed more like nut.  Their flavor is a blend of almond and coconut flavors.  Some of the touted health benefits are aiding in digestion, healping regulate blood sugar, apetite supresseant, and lowering cholesterol.  If that is not enough, there are some animal studies that claim consuming tiger nuts can also boost libido. Give these nuts (I mean tubers) a try!
2. Chia Seeds.  Chia seeds have had a lot of hype lately, and its pretty clear why.  The seeds are loaded with antioxidants, fiber, high quality protein, and omega 3 fatty acids. Chia seeds are awesome as a salad or oatmeal topper, blended into a smoothie, or in a pudding. Sprinkle some chia seeds throughout your week this week!
